The impact of the Hippie Movement and the rejection of the hippies in the 1960’s influenced a wide range of acceptance in religion, cultural diversity as well as a different lifestyle. The movement influenced popular music, television, film, literature, and the arts. Fashion was also impacted as the popularity business apparel declined and was replaced by casual apparel. Although much of the hippie movement ended with a positive change of acceptance and diversity for our surrounding communities, some may still argue that the movement guided our country to be more liberal and degrading of cultural values and ethics.

The economic, social and political trends of the previous two decades in the United States have challenged the outlook of America. Many began to question the government’s ability to deal with their country’s social and political problems. In the rise of Conservatism, the United States underwent another shift in the country's political and social issues. Limited government, a strong national defense and the protection of traditional values were coming to a rise as Ronald Reagan took presidency. Conservatives believed that the role of the government is to provide the people with the freedom necessary to pursue their goals. The policies generally emphasized the empowerment of an individual to solve his or her problems.

Ronald Reagan addressed the differences between his political and social views on government and how the past has influenced problems that have arose over the centuries. His positive outlook on changing America for the better continued throughout his term in office. Reagan was a figure to many Americans with stability and reassurance for change. He sought to abolish many regulations affecting the consumer, the workplace, and the environment and believed that this was detrimental to the economic growth of our country.
President Reagan's domestic program brought to belief that the nation would prosper only if the power of the private economic sector was unleashed. Through "Supply Side Economics," a greater supply of goods and services would increase the overall economic growth. The Reagan administration argued that a large tax cut would increase capital investment so that even lower taxes on these larger earnings would increase government revenues. Reagan succeeded during his first year in office in enacting the major components of his economic program.
